Vale of York residents invited to CCG event to mark 70 years of the NHS
The NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is holding a 1940s-themed event to celebrate 70 years of the NHS next week – and you’re all invited to take part in the celebrations.
The NHS was launched on 5 July 1948 by the then minister of health Aneurin Bevan with a clear objective: to provide free healthcare for all at the point of delivery. Seventy years later, the NHS is one of Britain’s most treasured institutions.
So to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS on Thursday 5 July, the CCG is hosting a 1940s-themed celebration between 1pm and 3pm in the reception at West Offices, Station Rise, York, YO1 6GA.
Members of the public are invited along to join in with the celebrations, which will include food, music and other attractions.
The CCG’s giant NHS70 birthday card, which has been touring the Vale of York in recent weeks, will also be available to sign and write goodwill messages in.
Dr Nigel Wells, the CCG’s Clinical Chair, said: “Our 1940s-themed birthday celebration promises to be a wonderful occasion, and we would like members of the public to join us at the event to celebrate 70 years of the NHS.
“There will be food, music and many more attractions to enjoy, so I encourage all people from the Vale of York to come along to West Offices between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday 5 July and celebrate the most wonderful institution that is the NHS.”
