People living in the Vale of York are being encouraged to have their say on improving access to GP services on evenings and weekends.

NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is using NHS England funding to offer additional access to GP services on weekday evenings and weekends from October 2018.

While some Vale of York GP surgeries already provide some evening and weekend services, the CCG wants to ensure everyone in the region is served equally.

The expanded service would provide more same-day and routine evening and weekend appointments, provided by a range of clinicians including doctors, nurses and clinical pharmacists depending on your need.

The CCG is therefore asking residents in the Vale of York area to complete a short survey to help shape how this additional service is delivered.

The survey can be completed online at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ImprovingGPAccess

It takes about five minutes to complete and, in accordance with data protection law, your information will remain anonymous and will only be used to help shape these plans.

Over the next few weeks the CCG is also holding several engagement events where you can drop in to chat to a member of staff and share your views about improving access to GP services across the Vale of the York.

Dr Kevin Smith, the CCG’s executive director of primary care and population health, said: “Good access to GP services is not just about getting an appointment when you need it – it’s also about getting access to the right person who can provide the right care, in the right place at the right time.

“We’re keen to hear how you think we should deliver improved access to GP services, so please take five minutes to complete the survey as your views will be used to help ensure that the service provided meets the needs of our local residents.”
