Local health commissioners call to Vale of York stoma patients
In its work to achieve the best in health and wellbeing for everyone, the latest call from local health commissioners is to Colostomy, Ileostomy and Urostomy patients in the Vale of York.
NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wants to ensure that all patients who use stoma products receive the best quality from the prescribing process and the products they need.
Dr Shaun O’Connell, Clinical Lead for Prescribing at the CCG, said: “This project is to understand the views and needs of stoma patients and we will use this feedback to make improvements to the prescribing of products.
“The driving force behind this work is to enhance quality and patient experience and all views provided by patients will be treated in confidence and only used to shape decisions for service improvement.”
Dr Shaun O’Connell added: “We build and redesign healthcare services on the experiences and views of the local community and I invite all local stoma patients, their family and carers to get involved.
To capture important views, the CCG is hosting a focus group for stoma patients on Wednesday 26 November 2014. To register your attendance email events.valeofyorkccg@nhs.net or phone 01904 555 870. If you are unable to take part in the focus group but would like to provide information, go to www.valeofyorkccg.nhs.uk/stoma to complete the patient survey.
