Medipex NHS Innovation Awards
The Medipex NHS Innovation Awards bring together the most innovative and exciting projects from the region’s NHS and commercial healthcare sector and showcases outstanding projects and initiatives from across Yorkshire, Humber and East Midlands regions.
In 2017, we won two awards for our work:
- Service Improvement Award – (Self-Management category for Proactive Health Coaching)
- Service Improvement Award, Faecal Calprotectin project
Service Improvement Award – (Self-Management category for Proactive Health Coaching)
The category showcased innovation in the improvement of helping patients to self-manage their long term conditions. We won the award for the Proactive Health Coaching project that we are trialling in collaboration with Health Navigator and York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
By supporting patients with weekly coaching calls, our randomised control trial is already showing high levels of improved patient experience, a reduction in attendances at A&E as well as fewer admissions to hospital. Patients are also reporting more confidence in the management of their conditions.
Winner - Service Improvement Award, Faecal Calprotectin project
Working in conjunction with York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Yorkshire Academic Health Science Network and NHS Scarborough and Ryedale CCG, the Faecal Calprotectin project won the Service Improvement Award for its benefit to Primary Care and the positive impact it has on secondary care services.
The care pathway supports, enables and empowers GPs to make more accurate referral decisions and improves the experience of patients across the Vale of York.
